Description: RACE A DRAGON BOAT RAISE MONEY FOR CHARITY - SUNDAY 24 JULY - 12 noon ON THE RIVER DART IN TOTNES Join us for a great day out for all the family * Entertainment, refreshment and fun on the water * Enter a team of 16 to 20 paddlers and a drummer * No previous experience required * Raise sponsorship for your chosen charity and for Shelterbox, End Polio and Bidwell Brook School Totnes. Organised by Totnes Rotary (Charity 293236), Dart Totnes Rowing Club and Exe-Calibre Dragon Boat Racing Club. Each team is made up of between 16 and 20 paddlers and one person to keep the pace on the drum. The boat and the helm is provided by the Exe-Calibre Dragon Boat Racing Club. * No experience is required and teams can be male, female or mixed. * The minimum age for participants is 16 years. * All participants must be able to swim 50 metres in a buoyancy aid (provided). * Special needs can be provided for. The course is approximately 200 metres long on the River Dart at Longmarsh, Totnes. Each team will race in at least three heats and the fastest teams will take part in the final stages. Races take place at about 10 minute intervals. Racing starts at 12 noon with the final completed about 6 pm. There will be refreshments, entertainment and other stalls on Longmarsh all day so bring along your family and friends to support your team. The cost of entry is £200 per team which covers all the cost of taking part. In addition you can raise sponsorship to support a charity of your choice. Half the money that you raise will go to your charity with the other half split between charities supported by Totnes Rotary Club.
