Bird Watching
The South Hams is ideally situated to give the dedicated or the occasional bird watcher. Access to the Devon coast line with its large estuaries, dunes, mudflats and wetlands it is a real paradise for bird watchers.
The inlets on the estuary provide feeding grounds for the little egret and curlew. Other bird spotting sites include the reed beds at South Milton Ley, Beesands and West Charleton March.
The South Hams is within very easy reach of Dartmoor, which provides another great area for bird watching. Among the birds to see are wood warblers, pied flycatchers, redstarts and buzzards.
